Jasmine green tea is a popular scented green tea with a beautiful fragrance. A good jasmine green tea is truly alluring. I got this tea in a Numi collection box that I purchased at my local health food store. It came with 18 different tea bags making it a wonderful assortment of teas to try. When I opened this particular teabag and inhaled the delicate jasmine fragrance, I thought I was going to be in for a delicious cup.
This was brewed in 180 degree water and steeped for 3 minutes. The smell in the cup was just divine but when I took a sip I was sad to have been met with bitterness. Such a sad, sad day when tea has a bitter taste. The bitterness was slight, but enough to make the cup not as smooth as I would have liked.
If I had more than one bag of this to try, I might have steeped it with less time to see if the bitterness diminished. But based on the only cup I did have, I would not keep this in my collection since I know of, and own, better jasmine green teas. Yet, if I was offered this particular tea to drink I would not turn it down. It would be a lovely tea if there was not a bitter taste but it isn’t the worst tea in the world.
