I have never had a Puerh before and honestly, I was a little nervous to try one. Puerh seems to be a tea that you either love or hate. It has its own fan club and the people in it will tote the wonders and mysteries of Puerh.
Today I decided to be adventurous and try the Green Puerh Supreme from TeaSource. When I opened the tea and took a deep breath inhaling the aroma of the dry leaves, I knew it was going to be a good tea. It smelled earthy and crisp. The color of the leaves are a muted green-brown and they are beautiful. To brew this I used 1 rounded teaspoon per cup of water that was about 200 degrees and I steeped it for 4 minutes.
The fragrance after I steeped the leaves was exactly as I stated above and I could not wait to take my first taste of a Puerh. I have to say I was not disappointed. The taste was clean and crisp while at the same time it was earthy and full. It was satifiying and refreshing. I felt comforted and sharp while I drank my cup. It was truly a wonderful experience and I am incredibly glad that I enjoyed my first adventure into Puerh. I’ll admit I know next to nothing about Puerh, but after this cup I have a feeling a might be exploring more of that part of the world of tea!
