Silver needle teas are the kind that really require a moment of enjoyment. I have teas in my collection that I drink on the go, when I’m busy, or just not in a quiet mood. However, when I have a moment of complete solitude I have certain teas I turn to for focused and relaxed enjoyment. Silver needle tea is one my solitude type teas so I was excited to give the Silver Needles from TeaSource a try.
To steep this I used 2 teaspoons of leaf for 1 cup of water. The temperature of my water was just over rumbling but not quite near boiling. I noticed right away the nose of the steeped tea was not hay like in the least. I have experienced a couple of white teas that smell very similar to hay but not this one. The taste was not as sweet as some other silver needle teas but still delicate. It was ever so softly vegetal and stronger over all compared to the others of the same type I have tried.
I decided to steep this a second time and was really surprised to discover that it was reminiscent of a gunpowder green tea without the green taste. It was a little smoky! Not overpowering smoky, but enough that it was noticeable. Tea really fascinates me and it always surprises me to discover how unique each tea is. This particular silver needle tea is quite nice and one that I would have no problem incorporating into my solitude teas.

Thanks for the great review Jenn. Glad you enjoyed our Silver Needles tea. We really appreciate it. Though I would like to make note: it is TeaSource (one word) our website is http://www.teasource.com.
We have been getting quite a few phone calls from people complaining about another company out on the web that is using a variation of our name. They are scamming customers with a “free trial” and then billing their credit card/bank accounts for upwards of $179.00.
Can you please change your blog to show our correct name? MUCH THANKS…..
I apologize about that! Corrections have been made. And how horrible that someone would use your company’s name in a scam!
